Executive Director

Maryangel is a Mexican woman with a disability, an activist, strategist, and consultant for the rights of women and people with disabilities, addressing inequality, and promoting diversity and inclusion. She has been working for the past 15 years in this field. Currently, she is the Global Executive Director of Women Enabled International, a global organization focused on gender and disability issues. She served for seven years as the Head of the Diversity and Inclusion OJice at the Center for the Recognition of Human Dignity at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has studied art, design, human rights, gender, and disability, and holds an MBA.

She is the founder of the national collective “Mexicanas con Discapacidad” and also the president of the Citizens’ Council for People with Disabilities of Nuevo León, Mexico. Her leadership, experience in social movements, and her voice make her an important opinion leader for people with disabilities at both the local and global levels.

Her story is told to the world in the Hulu documentary series “Acentos Bienvenidos.” She has collaborated with Forbes, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, NPR, Televisa, Gucci, Kering, Cosmopolitan, TED, and others. Some of the awards she has received and the organizations where she has collaborated include:

2018: NPR in the United States named her one of the 6 Women to Watch.
2019: She received the Mujer Tec Award for her leadership in gender and inclusion.
2021 and 2023: InStyle named her one of the 30 most badass women in Mexico.
2021: She received the Incluye Award for her work in the inclusion of people with disabilities.
2022: The AACSB named her a Global Inclusive Leader for her work promoting diversity and inclusion.
2022: She joined Gucci’s Global Gender Advisory Council. – 2025: Global Postgraduate Leadership Award of Excellence from the World Association of MBA Graduates: AMBA and BGA.
