Dr. Ephraim Kisangala
Emerging Leaders Program Mentor
Dr. Ephraim Kisangala is a medical doctor from Uganda with extensive experience in community health, and sexual and reproductive health and rights, as demonstrated through clinical practice, leadership, advocacy, and research. He has provided medical care and led numerous sexual and reproductive health programs in various rural and urban communities in Uganda, as well as in-school and out-of-school settings. His creativity and expertise has enabled him to collaboratively work with various organizations, including Teams4U, Nyalojjie Integrated Foundation, and Irise, to develop unique programs that have impacted most-at-need communities in the region.
As a researcher at Makerere University’s African Centre for Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Translation at the College of Health Sciences, Ephraim contributed to the development of national and international policies by conducting evidence syntheses on various health conditions, including COVID-19 and multiple childhood diseases.
In addition, Ephraim is doing a PhD at King’s College London, which focuses on investigating the preferences, value, and economic impact of informal caregivers in the management of chronic diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. The goal is to improve the understanding and recognition of informal caregivers, the majority of whom are women and girls. He holds a master’s degree in public health and health promotion from Bangor University.
Ephraim is a Women Deliver Young Leader Alum, and he has participated in various Women Deliver activities like being a member of the Women Deliver Alumni Committee.
Overall, he is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential and dreams.
