Bio
Nagla is a law student at Zanzibar University, where she also serves as the chairperson of the university’s legal aid clinic. In this leadership role, she is committed to advancing the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 16, which emphasizes peace, justice, and strong institutions. Through her work at the clinic, she addresses community issues such as land disputes, gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and the protection of women’s and children’s rights. Nagla has done this by utilizing educational programs on cybercrimes, land rights, and child protection for a diverse audience, ranging from local communities to academic institutions. Nagla has also participated in the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders training program and the Assalam Young Leaders Training Program, which have deepened her understanding of adolescent girls, human rights, and leadership. She applied for the Emerging Leaders Program to enhance her impact at both the local and global scales. Through the program, she hopes to gain valuable skills and knowledge to strengthen her advocacy efforts, drive meaningful policy changes, and promote social justice. Her aspirations are to inspire and empower young people, particularly women and girls, by addressing systemic issues and advocating for meaningful change.
