Bio
Cherono is currently pursuing her studies at Kabarak University in Kenya and volunteers for Barrier Breakers, a community-based organization that supports teenage mothers and adolescent girls. Through the Emerging Leaders Program, she hopes to promote education, end menstrual poverty, fight all forms of gender-based violence (GBV), and reduce the rate of teenage pregnancies among adolescent girls in her community. Cherono believes that young people have a duty to advocate for their needs and ensure that their interests, which have a long-lasting impact on their lives, are protected. By participating in global advocacy spaces and creating a new generation of youth leaders, young people have the power to influence global policies that will improve their futures.
