Ibrahim Hassanin (Class of 2018) trained nurses and community health workers who facilitated weekly HIV/AIDS workshops for 400 youth at the family medicine unit in Egypt. Topics included the nature of the disease, modes of transmission, symptoms, complications, HIV testing, how to address myths related to transmission. Through the workshops, youth were taught that stigma-related violence or the fear of violence prevents many people from seeking HIV testing, returning for their results, or securing treatment.
