Women Deliver Conference

Women Deliver convenings catalyze conversations with stakeholders from around the world, break barriers, address challenges, and identify opportunities to advance gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and improve the wellbeing of girls and women, in all their intersecting identities.

The Women Deliver 2023 Conference (WD2023) will take place in Kigali, Rwanda and online from 17-20 July 2023.

CONNECTING ADVOCATES AND DECISION MAKERS.

Women Deliver Conferences convene thousands of decision-makers from diverse fields, including civil society, government, the private sector, and international agencies, alongside women’s rights organizations and movements, youth-led and LGBTQIA+ organizations, and advocates representing the intersectional identities of girls, women, and underrepresented populations in order to identify solutions, bolster accountability, and drive change.  WD2023 will adopt a greater focus on partnerships than ever before by building bridges between diverse actors and bringing country-level advocates’ perspectives to bear, both in-person and virtually, every step of the way.

FUELING GLOBAL AND COUNTRY-LEVEL ACTION.

Women Deliver Conferences promote a robust civic space for feminist action, organizing, and mobilization by creating space for critical dialogue, knowledge sharing, and networking. Women Deliver is committed to developing an accessible and inclusive platform, both in-person and virtually, to ensure that underrepresented populations and advocates representing the intersectional identities of girls and women, particularly those living in low-and middle-income countries, are meaningfully engaged in WD2023. We hope that advocates, whether engaging in our convenings in-person or virtually, will be inspired to take action and harness new knowledge, skills, and connections to achieve their advocacy goals.

INFLUENCING THE GLOBAL AGENDA.

WD2023 will serve as an important policy moment and accountability mechanism following a number of commitments that have been made around gender equality at international fora, including the Generation Equality Forum (GEF), the Global Education Summit, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the G7 Summit, and the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26), among others. WD2023 is well positioned to ensure that commitments made in the coming years result in gender-transformative policy change. WD2023 will be co-created and co-led by diverse stakeholders who will play a leading role in shaping dialogue, fostering collaboration, and driving collective action before, during, and after the Conference.

WD2007

Convened the 1st Women Deliver Conference in London, UK

In 2007, the maternal mortality rate was high and falling too slowly. World leaders and advocates needed to step up, rally around the issue, and commit to action. And they needed a place to do it. To fill the void, the Women Deliver Conference was born. By bringing together 1,700 people and making the investment case for reproductive and maternal health, Women Deliver was able to get Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 5 – Improve Maternal Health – on the global development agenda.
