Bio
Leila has an interest in diplomacy and holds a degree in Political Science and International Relations. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Humanitarian Aid and International Cooperation. Over the years, Leila has advanced her expertise and passion in humanitarianism by holding strategic positions in different organizations, where she has worked as a communications officer, research assistant, and project manager. In Burundi, 97% of violence cases involve girls and young women. This concern has led her to advocate for and understand these gender-related challenges among young people and provide concrete solutions. Additionally, she is inspired to address the gaps and intersections in access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information, the consequences of climate change on young girls, and advocacy and socio-economic empowerment activities for young girls in internally displaced persons sites, host populations, and vulnerable communities. Leila hopes to achieve these goals through awareness-raising and consultations with affected populations.
