Bio

Salma Zouari was born and raised in Tunisia. After pursuing an undergraduate degree in Management Sciences with a Focus on Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Sousse, she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management of Non-Governmental Organizations at Tunis Business School while holding a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Tunisia. She also received a 6-month advocacy training from Safir EU with a focus on the SDGs and the UN’s 2030 Agenda.

Additionally, Salma founded “Fasserli,” a mobile app that aims to help girls and women in the region of Medenine, Tunisia to report abuse cases and get support from local organizations/authorities. Furthermore, thanks to a Small Grant from Women Deliver, she is currently implementing the “E-Cautious’Ness” initiative aiming to fight cyberbullying, promote the culture of cyber-security and mobilize Tunisian youth to advocate for more responsible use of the digital space.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

My interest in gender equality originated from personal experiences on a communal level. The potential I see in the girls and women of my community makes me strive for a more gender-equal world that meets the needs and aspirations of both men and women and considers them allies.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

My biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality are founding the "Fasserli" app and creating/joining women-led initiatives in my country such as E-Cautious'Ness but also globally.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

In my spare time, I enjoy networking in informal settings, reading novels, and baking.
