Bio

Rehema George was born and raised in Tanzania. She received a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Management from Mzumbe University in 2017 and works with Deloitte Consulting Limited as Communications and Knowledge Management Manager. Rehema implements the USAID Afya Yangu Southern Program’s communications and knowledge management strategy by generating a wide variety of communication tools and processes and engaging various stakeholders. Develop content for a variety of audiences and communication channels, as well as cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders. She previously worked with EngenderHealth as the Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

It results in better healthcare. Gender equality matters for health, it is one of the most important drivers. Achieving gender equality is not simply instrumental for health and development; its impact has wide-ranging benefits and is a matter of fairness and social justice for everyone.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

Through "Her Story, Our Action Project," funded by Women Deliver, trained 10 healthcare workers from 10 health centers in their district to provide peer-to-peer training on youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services (SRH) and organized youth-focused health clinics. Through these clinics, 890 youth accessed SRH services in Temeke District.
