Leila is an equality advocate working to advance youth rights, which she believes is only possible if young people are given access to influence global advocacy spaces. In the face of urgent global issues like ongoing conflicts, anti-rights movements, and climate disasters, now more than ever, young people are needed to add significant value and drive change to create a more just and sustainable society for current and future generations. Leila joined the Emerging Leaders Program to have a positive influence on her local community through her advocacy work. She aspires to enable young people to understand the issues facing them and to collaboratively work together to become active change agents in a more inclusive and just society.
