Kerry became a sexual and reproductive health and rights advocate after growing up in Kuria, Migori County, Kenya, a region with a high prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV), female genital mutilation (FGM), and limited access to youth-friendly SRHR services. He is a Social Justice National Ambassador for the Kenya ni Mimi campaign, a Youth Advocate at the Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA), and an Advocacy Champion with Nguvu Collective. Kerry has also been involved in various advocacy causes and media campaigns, most notably a campaign petitioning the judiciary of Kenya to establish a Gender Justice Court in Migori County. Kerry began his advocacy work when he was 17 and, over the years, has received several accolades, including being a finalist in the Upcoming Human Rights Defender of the Year 2024 by Defenders Coalition Kenya; a finalist of the Africans Rising Activist of the Year Award 2024 by the Africans Rising Movement; recipient of the African Art for Advocacy Award 2023 by Youth Power Hub and Y-ACT Kenya; and the first runner-up in the National Essay and Video Competition Award of 2022 by UNICEF Kenya and The Standard Group PLC in Kenya.
