Bio
Juvenal is a 22-year-old Tanzanian storyteller, climate justice advocate, and podcast producer. He is the creator of The Unapologetic Human podcast, a platform dedicated to addressing critical social issues, particularly climate justice, mental health, and gender equality. Through his podcast, Juvenal amplifies the voices of frontline communities, especially those from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) backgrounds, helping them share their stories and perspectives on environmental and social challenges. Juvenal's passion for climate action and advocacy stems from his upbringing in Arusha, Tanzania, where he was raised by three generations of strong women. This experience shaped his deep commitment to environmental stewardship and gender equality. He has been recognized with grants and awards, including from the Wits Center for Journalism for reporting on mental health and the Climate Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) for his work in raising climate awareness and advancing educational equality. Through his community-based climate justice project funded by CDKN, Juvenal actively promotes climate literacy in vulnerable areas, utilizing storytelling as a transformative tool for education. His work has also been featured in collaborations with global organizations like the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), highlighting the intersection of storytelling and advocacy in fighting for a more just and sustainable future. Juvenal believes that young people have a critical role in global advocacy spaces, particularly as they face the immediate and long-term impacts of climate change and social inequalities. He applied for the Emerging Leaders Program to further his advocacy efforts, gain valuable policy insights, and connect with other young leaders committed to securing a sustainable and equitable future for all.
