Bio
Patience is a sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) advocate with a focus on advancing intersectionality and diversity. She serves as a youth panel representative on the Make Way program in Uganda. As a person living with a hearing impairment, Patience is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Disability Studies and Inclusive Development at Kyambogo University, which has deepened her understanding of inclusion and enriched her advocacy work with theoretical and practical insights. In her work, she aims to amplify the voices of marginalized youth, including those with disabilities, sex workers, youth living with HIV/AIDS, and gender minorities. Her work is driven by a commitment to creating inclusive, equitable environments where all individuals can thrive. Patience presented an abstract on the "Intersectionality Toolkit for Quality CBR Services" at the 7th CBR/CBID Africa Conference in 2024. This toolkit highlights the importance of addressing multiple forms of discrimination in Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) services, advocating for an inclusive approach that respects diverse experiences. By the end of the Women Deliver Emerging Leaders Program, Patience hopes to have completed her master’s degree, taken on greater leadership roles in the disability community, and set up a Community-Based Organization (CBO) focused on the well-being of young people. With a deep belief in the power of collective action, Patience is committed to building a future where every young person, regardless of identity or circumstances, can live a life of dignity, health, and empowerment.
