WD2026 media coverage generated a combined reach of 1.47 billion, a number that reflects the scale of the Conference and the depth of interest, with journalists and content creators across the world treating WD2026 as a rallying point, not just a news event.

Accredited journalists came from across the globe, with strong representation from Africa (79 journalists), the Oceanic Pacific (78), and Asia (51) — a spread that changed not just who covered WD2026, but how.

The Media Lounge was designed as an inclusive working space for over 200 journalists and 40 media scholars, built on the principle that community journalists and content creators deserve the same access to senior voices as global publications. That access was delivered through two press conferences and a series of Media Fireside Chats. The opening and closing press conferences gave media direct lines to Women Deliver leadership and key Conference figures, including UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and the Hon. Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand. The Fireside Chats featured high-level speakers, including the Hon. Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister of Australia, and frontline advocates in conversation with journalists who might not otherwise have had a seat at the table.

By the numbers

The conversation didn’t end when the Conference did. Engagement peaked — on some platforms — after Narrm, as audiences continued sharing reflections and engaging with the Declaration and its outcomes.
