Ignite Interest and Political Will
Lasting change starts with political imagination. People need to see a different future, recognize their place within it, and understand the role they can play in bringing it about.
The Melbourne Declaration sets out a shared political vision for transforming the gender equality ecosystem. Through this pathway, Women Deliver works with partners to extend its reach, deepen its resonance, and build the collective momentum needed to turn its principles into action.
What this pathway does
We work with partners to:
- Shape compelling narratives and clear goals that make systemic change tangible and urgent.
- Deepen engagement with the people and organizations that shaped the Melbourne Declaration and bring new allies into the work.
- Build political will around the Melbourne Declaration’s shared vision for gender equality, including through issue-specific agendas developed with partners.
- Use Women Deliver Conferences, other global spaces, and targeted convenings as catalytic moments for commitment and action.
Our catalytic role
Women Deliver connects actors around shared political ambitions, creates space for collective imagination, and builds momentum from common purpose. Our relationships, convening power, and political insight help partners find alignment while retaining ownership of their agendas and actions.
This work includes translating the Melbourne Declaration’s shared political vision into issue-specific agendas developed with partners, as seen in the Manifesto for Adolescent Girls’ Rights and the Feminist Health Systems Charter.
What success looks like
By 2030, diverse movements, institutions, and States will be using the Melbourne Declaration to shape narratives, agendas, and decisions. We aim to see stronger collective ownership of shared agendas, sustained political commitment, and greater collective influence over the norms and decisions that shape gender equality.
