Successful New Hospital Protocols Get Considered for Scale-Up on a National Level in Ghana

As a medical officer in a rural hospital in Ghana, Cephas Ke-on Avoka (Class of 2018) developed a color-coding system to ensure quick triage and management of clients at an antenatal clinic, which is now being implemented and rolled out in peripheral facilities. Additionally he introduced protocols for managing common complications of pregnancy and developed monitoring sheets to enable effective monitoring and management procedures, which has been adopted by staff at the only teaching hospital in the northern part of the country, Tamale Teaching Hospital.
