Musu Bakoto Sawo (Class of 2018) shares her experiences with her work on gender-based violence (GBV) on the national steering committee for GBV and female genital mutilation (FGM). She offered technical advice on the development of the new National Action Plan for FGM and GBV, and contributed ideas to tackle these issues and obtain commitments from government to take up a more meaningful role in this process. She and the steering committee received commitments from the government to facilitate and support the process of developing the National Action Plan, and she and the steering committee have drafted a new bill on FGM to be introduced to the National Assembly in the future.
