Mark Gachagua Spoke at a Panel About HIV/AIDS Among Adolescents at the Global Conference on Adolescent Health – Women Deliver

During the Global Adolescent Health Conference in Ottawa, Canada, Mark Gachagua participated in a plenary session entitled “Ending HIV/AIDS Among Adolescents: Where the Solution Lies.” Moderated by Ian Askew, Director of the Department of Reproductive Health and Research for the WHO, the session sparked a discussion on sustainable approaches to ending HIV/AIDS, the leading cause of death among adolescents in Africa. It also highlighted HPV as the precursor of cervical cancer and the many other STIs for which adolescents have much higher risk than adults. Mark and other panelists explored the dynamics of how adolescents can catalyze the end to HIV/AIDS by 2030.
