Katja Iversen Steps Down as Women Deliver President/CEO

New York, NY, 28 October 2020 – Katja Iversen has decided to step down as President/CEO of Women Deliver. She will leave her position on 30 October 2020.

“Throughout my career I have been using my voice to advocate for marginalized girls and women and for more inclusive leadership. After thorough reflection, I have made the decision to relinquish my post and step back to allow for a person from one of the many communities and groups we work for and with to lead the organization,” said Katja Iversen.

Under Iversen’s leadership Women Deliver has become a leading global advocate that champions gender equality and the health and rights of girls and women. In her seven-year tenure, she has positioned Women Deliver as a strong advocate, eminent convener, and effective communicator. She has focused on working within and outside the halls of power, with nontraditional sectors and partners, and creating spaces for meaningful and inclusive dialogue.  Women Deliver has grown in depth, experience and in size – from a small eight employee-organization in 2014, to a multi-million operating budget with over 50 employees today.

“Katja is a global leader. Her ability to create meaningful partnerships, communicate, influence decision-makers, and set agendas is impressive and has led to concrete change for girls, women, and gender equality around the globe. We thank Katja for her tireless work and commitment to Women Deliver’s mission. While we regret to see her go, we understand and admire this bold decision, and we wish her nothing but the best,” said Board Chair, Kristin Hetle.

“I am grateful to the current and former staff, Young Leaders, and advocates who have challenged me and Women Deliver to examine our values, actions, and privilege – and who have been instrumental in the great results we have achieved,” said Iversen. “I will continue to use my voice and power for change. I remain dedicated to Women Deliver’s mandate and partners, and wish the organization all the best as it continues to be a strong advocate for girls and women, in all their diversity.”
