Update on Independent Investigation

On 30 June the Board of Directors announced that we had engaged Cader Adams LLP to conduct an independent investigation into allegations of racial discrimination and toxic work environment at Women Deliver. As part of our commitment to transparency, we wanted to provide an update on the status of the investigation and the way forward.

Yasmin Cader and her team have engaged in interviews with current and former Women Deliver staff members, and will finish these interviews by today, 18 September 2020. During the final phase, Cader Adams LLP will develop their findings and recommendations for presentation to the Board.

The Board will thoroughly review Cader Adam’s findings and recommendations, as well as recommendations from staff, Young Leaders, and intersectionality and DEI experts, and determine the appropriate actions to take. We anticipate concluding our deliberations and sharing the findings and our plans for action with our staff, partners, and the broader Women Deliver community, including by posting to the Women Deliver website, no later than the week of 19 October 2020.

The findings of the investigation will be an important guide to our broader transformative work toward becoming an anti-racist organization, which you can read more about here.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,
Kristin Hetle (Chair)

On Thursday, 22 October, Women Deliver’s Board shared with staff and partners that Cader Adams’ report and the Women Deliver Board’s deliberations have taken longer than anticipated. The Board shared that they are working expeditiously and will share the findings of the investigation along with their decisions and recommendations publicly on Wednesday, 28 October. The Board acknowledged and apologized for the added stress and uncertainty this delay has caused.
