UNFPA’s Executive Director attends Women Deliver UNGA reception

Dr Natalia Kanem, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), attended the Women Deliver reception at UNGA77. She emphasized that UNFPA will do everything to support the “Women Deliver 2023” Conference.

 

Women Deliver

Women Deliver” is a non-profit organization that advocates gender equality and fights for women’s rights.

The Women Deliver reception was held at the 77th session of UNGA 2022. Women representatives from around the globe attended this reception. On this occasion, the aim of the “Women Deliver Conference 2023” was discussed.

 

Women Deliver Conference 2023

The Women Deliver 2023 Conference will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from the 17th to the 20th of July 2023. People from all over the globe can attend it virtually. The motto of this conference is “Space, solidarity and solutions”.

The purpose of this conference is to advance gender equality. 6000 people will be attending the Women Deliver Conference 2023 in person whereas, more than 200,000 people will join virtually for this cause.

Furthermore, a six-month Global Dialogue will be leading up to this Conference. Women Deliver 2023 will enable an inclusive space that will enhance solidarity for sustainable solutions to gender equality.

 

Objectives of the Women Deliver Conference 2023

The objectives of this conference include speeding up the collective action against gender inequality. It will strengthen and advance the global feminist movement.

Likewise, the vision of this conference is to create space for everyone to participate to the best of their abilities. To reframe the concept of “a leader” and to hold the leaders accountable for this cause.

The Women Deliver 2023 Advisory Group selected the conference’s theme, objectives, and vision. During the process, the advisory group consulted with more than 5000 advocates from 166 countries, generations, and sectors.

After attending the Women Deliver UNGA77 Reception, the Executive Director of UNFPA appreciated this stance toward empowering women.
