Mónica de Pinto Ribeiro Hancke
Manager, President/CEO Engagement
Guided by intersectional feminist values and approaches, Mónica (she/her) is committed to transformative change in global development, building a more representative, equitable, and just sector that centers the experiences and leadership of women and girls, and non-binary, gender non-conforming, trans, intersex, and LGBTQ+ people. Her career has spanned across Nicaragua, Kenya, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste, and the US, and focused on supporting country and grassroots gender justice advocates’ access to and leadership in global policy-making spaces. She currently serves as the Manager of the Deliver for Good campaign, mobilizing a broad-array of multi-sector global partners and resourcing country-level women’s rights organizations’ collective advocacy in Kenya and Senegal, to advance gender equality via the implementation of the SDGs. When she’s not pushing for policy-change, you can find her punching out the patriarchy on a boxing bag.
A Third Culture Kid, she hails from Portugal and Norway by way of the UK, the Netherlands, and the US, and she speaks five languages. She holds an MA in International Development and Gender Policy from the Elliott School at the George Washington University and a B.S/B.A in Political Communications and Theatre Education from Emerson College.
Mónica is also a proud Board Member of Echoes of Women in Africa Initiative (ECOWA), a grassroots women’s rights and peace-building organization in Nigeria, and Advocacy Advisor to a NYC-based feminist dance company called Smashworks.
