We call on world leaders to take the following action:
- Ensure girls and women are prioritized in global development:
Develop and implement, with adequate financing, evidence-based national policies and strategies that advance gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women at the global, regional, and country levels. - Ensure funding matches the scope of needs:
Mobilize additional resources at the country level to fill gaps in domestic investments for girls and women, and ensure corresponding budgets are based on costed implementation plans. - Ensure strategies are driven by participatory processes:
Include girls, young people, and women in the design and implementation of strategies, policies and programs, and involve men and boys in all efforts to improve gender equality. - Ensure national policies and strategies are implemented as promised:
Gather gender-disaggregated data to track the implementation of policies and strategies affecting girls and women, and ensure corresponding budgets are transparent.
