Bio

Y-isha Raphael was born and raised in South Africa. She is working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences at Boston City Campus. As a Research Assistant at APHA, Y-isha is responsible for notetaking, data handling, and timekeeping. She is a member of Inside My Purse and 7cups.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

Realizing that unless we as womxn fight for our rights and space in the world, no one will fight for us. That is enough reason for anyone to do better for themselves.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

Organizing and holding a co-ed group discussion among university students regarding rape culture and sexual violence in campus.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

Reading and writing poetry.
