Young people like myself need to be given platforms and opportunities to share our lived experiences. There is just so much to learn from us. Leaders in families, communities, schools, countries, and globally should enable us be part of decisions that affect our health and well-being.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

I come from a society and family that tends to value the boy child more than the girl child. The need to change this narrative ignited my pursuit for gender equality. I also desire to find a solution to the gender-based violence I have witnessed.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

I participated in the People Parliament TV show in Uganda which focused on citizen-led accountability for the post-2015 health agenda. My voice as a teenager was important in the discussion to highlight our needs as young people. These voices, together with many others stakeholders in Uganda and other countries, were taken to the United Nation General Assembly of 2015. They later informed the new global strategy for women, children, and adolescent health.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

I love writing poems, participating in debates, cooking, learning about new fashion trends, and visiting new places.
