Nice Nailantei Leng’ete is passionate about promoting alternative rites of passage and empowering communities to fight female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C).
Nice was born and raised in Kenya. She studied Community Health and Development at Kenya Methodist University. As a Project Officer and Lead Community Anti-FGM Champion with Amref Health Africa, she is responsible for championing anti-FGM and child marriage for young girls through advocacy and alternative rites of passage. Through her work, political leaders have publicly denounced FGM/C. As an advocate, she is proud to have reached 16,000 girls through the alternative rite passage through a culturally-accepted approach for girls to be women without the cut and continue with their education.
Nice is an advocate for girls and women because she believes if women and girls are empowered, the whole community benefits.
In her free time, Nice enjoys performing community work, socializing, and traveling.
