Bio

Ludmille (Lud) Lyvert was born and raised in Haiti. She is currently working toward a Bachelor in Education from Université Quisqueya. As a Project Officer at Fondation TOYA, Lud is responsible for elaboration and implementation of projects on different thematic areas that are related to gender equality, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, girls’ leadership, and capacity building, organizing regular meetings with the sections that are working on the projects, and assuring partnership coordination. Additionally, she is a Brain Challenge Competition Coordinator.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

While working with a foundation and interviewing some girls about their dreams in life, the majority told us that their dream is to find a husband and give birth to children. This experience made me believe that not all girls have the chance to dream. This situation motivated me to advocate for girls’ and women’s rights.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

I contributed in strengthening the leadership capacities of HELP student girls as part of the Fanm Rasin Lakay program. Today, I participate in the development and implementation of projects aimed at advocating for the respect of girls and women rights for their full development.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of my advocacy efforts, I usually dance, sing, cook, read, teach, and volunteer in activities that have connection with humanitarian actions.
