Jama Jack is passionate about teaching girls and young women about women’s rights and using communication as a tool for social change.
Jama was born and raised in The Gambia. She is studying for a Master in Philosophy degree in Sexual and Reproductive Rights in Africa in the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria and previously studied Journalism and Communication Studies. As the Communication and Networking Manager at Think Young Women, she is responsible for leading communication processes and creating effective advocacy and community engagement strategies for the organization. Through her work, she positioned effective communication on her organization’s work, leading to more partnerships. As an advocate, Jama inspired a new generation of youth advocates effectively using new media to communicate and engage with peers and communities on issues of interest.
Jama was inspired to become an advocate by her mother because she grew up watching her do the same work Jama does with girls and women, witnessing great results and the transformation of communities.
In her free time, Jama enjoys reading, writing, and starting difficult conversations on social media and in real life events.
