When we realize that the world around us is unfair and reject the difference, we as young people must act. Because we deserve and must demand a change towards an ideal world.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

Coming from a peasant family, a victim of the armed conflict, and living in a country with a conservative and patriarchal culture made me want to work for a better country and ensure that no one else is affected by injustice and social bias. Also, it has allowed me to recognize women as community leaders and the central axis of peacebuilding.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

Thanks to my experience, leadership, and recognition in my region, I was selected by the UN WOMEN office for Latin America and the Caribbean as a young consultant on the application of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, in the 25 years of its creation, to carry the voice of the young women of Latin America and expose our realities.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

My biggest passion is swimming. I have practiced this sport at a competitive level for more than 15 years, and underwater is my happy place in the world.
