Hamza Meghari is passionate about generating and reviewing evidence to inform policies.
Hamza is originally from Palestine and currently lives in the United Kingdom. He received a Master of Science degree in Global Health and Development from University College London (UCL) and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Palestine College of Nursing. As a Consultant at Y-PEER and International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), he is responsible for consulting on project proposals, advising on research, and consulting on organizational development.
Since becoming a Young Leader, Hamza is proud he was awarded the Chevening scholarship to study for his Master of Science in Global Health and Development at UCL as a result of his experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as a global health issue. Through his work at the UNFPA Arab States (ASRO) as an International Fellow, he organized and led a regional training on female genital mutilation, a national training on SRHR in humanitarian settings, and a regional campaign on peacebuilding and gender equality. Hamza also co-conducted a research project on the health research system in Palestine, and the research results produced national policies and recommendations to advance the research system in Palestine. Additionally, he was sponsored to attend the AIDS conference 2018, where he spoke on panels for Y-PEER and IYAFP about his work experience in humanitarian settings and advised on policies and recommendations.
Hamza advocates for girls and women because “they count.”
In his free time, Hamza enjoys cooking, watching films, traveling, hanging out, reading a book, learning a new skill, and volunteering, all with friends, family, colleagues, and on his own.
