Bio
Giovanna Moraes Santos da Silva was born and raised in Brazil. She is recently attending Colégio Pedro II. Giovanna is a Laboratory of Studies in Education and Diversity member on education and gender diversity.
What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?
What ignited my pursuit for gender equality was the moment when I realized that women around the world suffer various types of violence and are simply deprived of basic rights because they are female. What also inspires me is the hope for a world without oppressions of any kind.
Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.
My biggest victories are the studies that I do together with projects from my school with the objective of criticizing gender inequality and the I Paulo Freire Award that the laboratory of which I am part received in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?
In my spare time I like to read, play basketball, draw, play games, watch movies, listen to music, and spend time with my family and friends.
