We need to understand that achieving gender equality is a process that requires us all regardless of sex and/or gender because we are all in this together, as one, and women’s voice is human’s voice.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

I remember reading an article about a group of Egyptian women who were challenging their customs and traditions to make to their voices heard by the predominant masculine society they lived in. It truly inspired me and made me reflect this on the status of women in Palestine.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

I co-created and organised a local initiative that encourages young women and girls to speak up for them selves and share their stories. I created a series of workshops each included 20 to 25 young women and girls of the ages between 18 to 35, to communicate and share their own experiences, and i also created an online Facebook group, a safe and friendly platform where we discussed girls problems in the modern world, and how to overcome obstacles we as women might face. This initiative changed their mentality and, for some of them, it was a changing point in their life.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

I love writing poems, stories and articles. I also enjoy cooking, watching movies, listening to music, and gatherings with family and friends.
