With two co-workers from PROUD, Quirine Lengkeek (Class of 2018) attended a demonstration organized by STRASS Syndicat, a French sex worker-led organization, to protest the criminalization of clients under a law introduced in France in 2016 that adversely affects sex workers, especially transgender sex workers. About 200 people marched through the streets to speak out against the law, leading to gained media attention and greater public awareness. The demonstration ended with a ‘die-in’ at Place de la République to emphasize that criminalizing (parts of) sex work is a lethal move.
