Olaoluwa Abagun, a Women Deliver Young Leader from Nigeria, received $5,000 from Women Deliver — made possible by Johnson & Johnson — to implement a seed grant project entitled “Safe Kicks Initiative: Adolescent Girls Against Sexual Violence,” which empowered 250 adolescent girls in five secondary schools across the Alimosho community with knowledge of sexual violence and self-defense skills. Through her project, six Safe Kicks Initiative education clubs were established in local Alimosho schools in Nigeria, and 33 meetings occurred across three schools, featuring bi-weekly Taekwondo classes, anti-sexual violence advocacy training, and general education on gender-based violence, with a strong focus on sexual violence.
