Olaouwa was awarded a $5,000 Women Deliver seed grant, made possible by Johnson & Johnson, to implement her project entitled “Safe Kicks Initiative: Adolescent Girls Against Sexual Violence.” According to Mirabel Center, a foremost Sexual Assault Referral Center in Lagos Nigeria, 592 of its 845 female patients between 2013 – 2015 were adolescent girls, with the majority of patients resident in Kosofe & Alimosho Local Government Areas. Through the education & empowerment of 250 adolescent girls, as well as the mobilization of key members of the community to adopt a Community Action Plan, Olaoluwa hopes that the project will prevent sexual violence against adolescent girls in Alimosho Local Government by 2017.
