Elisha Joshi (Class of 2018) participated in a multi-day event to celebrate midwives in Nepal. On May 4, a midwife-led antenatal clinic was set up in Paropakar Hospital, based on the midwifery model of care, which promotes natural birth and respectful maternity care. Midwifery Society of Nepal along with Government of Nepal, UNFPA collaboratively celebrated International Midwives’ Day on May 5, with theme “Midwives Leading the Way with Quality Care.” This two-day event generated awareness among the public on the importance of midwives for quality of care and the existence of a formal bachelor midwifery course in the country.
