Joanne Machagah (Class of 2018) developed a concept note and delivered a presentation to stakeholders on the impact of laws on sex work-related violence with a focus on health, safety, security, and access to justice. She emphasized the importance for stakeholders to recognize that the sex worker community is not influencing children into sex work, rather they are dedicated to eradicated sexual exploitation of children. Attendees from Kenya Sex Workers Alliance (KESWA), County Health Services, and representatives from Nairobi county government agreed that violence against adolescents involved in sex work need to be addressed and will discuss courses of action the government can take at their next meeting.
