In December, Smriti Dhingra (Class of 2018) worked on a “16 Days of Activism on Ending Gender-Based Violence” campaign as a consultant for Rising Flame. As part of the campaign, she compiled video testimonies of women with disabilities on their struggles with violence and harassment along with videos that highlighted how women with disabilities are often ignored and discouraged from reporting violence. Through this campaign, Smriti engaged with women with disabilities, recorded their stories, edited the final videos and ran them in the campaign. The campaign shed a light on the plight of women with disabilities, who are often face barriers to justice.
