Aditi Sharma received a $5,000 seed grant from Women Deliver — made possible by Johnson and Johnson — to implement the Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Training Program. Aditi’s organization, Kalyani, partnered with KIRDARC, a local NGO working in Surkhet, Nepal. In partnership with KIRDARC, the team collected baseline data assessing awareness of menstrual hygiene management issues in the community and expanded awareness and access. Aditi and her team led 22 training events in her community, which ultimately taught 311 girls and women how to make reusable sanitary cloth pads to use in lieu of the traditional practices that put their health at risk.
