Women’s Land: Closing the Gender Gap in Sub-Saharan Africa
In Sub-Saharan Africa and around the world, land is a fundamental asset and a primary source of income, security, opportunity, and status. Yet for millions of African women, secure rights to land continue to elude them.
To shed light on this key issue, the Landesa Center for Women’s Land Rights and Women Deliver’s Deliver for Good campaign have developed a new infographic: Women’s Land: Closing the Gender Gap in Sub-Saharan Africa. The infographic explores some of the factors that drive inequality in land rights for women, including discriminatory customary practices, lack of adequate representation in land governance, and gaps in national and regional policies and implementation locally.
