Lisandra Pérez Coto
Lisandra Pérez Coto is passionate about working with the community on gender equality and sexual rights.
Lisandra was born and raised in Cuba. She studied Communications and Journalism at the University of Matanzas. A Journalist at Giron Journal, she is responsible for producing content for the Giron newspaper and website. Through her work, she won the Journalism Award in July 2018 for her report on gender-based violence. As an advocate, she is proud to have received recognition from the trans community in her city.
Lisandra was inspired to become an advocate by Dr. Marisol Alfonso de Armas from UNFPA in Cuba because she worked actively as a sociologist and feminist in projects on sex education and gender-based violence.
In her free time, Lisandra enjoys traveling, reading, and going out with her friends.
