Valerie Awino has a cumulative experience of eight years — in the nexus of Communications Development, Digital Advocacy, Social Research and Gender Equality. Prior to joining Women Deliver, she worked as a Communications and Advocacy Consultant with various organizations, including the World Health Organization (AFRO Region). She has also worked extensively as a digital events consultant and some of the global events she has brought to fruition are: Global Youth Summit, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (Global Congress), and Plan International Deutschland (JF-CPiE Project Launch).

Valerie is also the author of a book titled “Relationship Literacy: Wider Lessons from Young Single Mothers in Nairobi Slums,” a publication that seeks to amplify the voices and lived experiences of young single mothers.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Communication from Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She is currently based in the lake region of Western Kenya (Kisumu). She loves to read African literature, visit art galleries, and explore different cultures through food.
