What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

I am a gender equality advocate because I am tired of existing in a world that is still patriarchal and treats girls and women unfairly. I chose this path to be a driving force towards a positive improvement that continues to promote a culture of uplifting girls and women.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

I have been a mentor for adolescent women under the Ready to Lead project. During that period, I managed to empower six adolescents women aged 18 to 24 with knowledge on SRHR life skills, and their rights as young women. In the beginning, my mentees didn’t know much about their rights, especially around SRHR. I managed to take them through a process of understanding themselves, as well as their rights. By the end of the project, I helped produce six young women who knew their rights and were now empowered to make responsible choices in their lives. This had a positive impact on their lives, as they managed to stay in school and pursue their dreams without disruptions. They then became positive peer influencers, which I believe has a positive impact that is spreading within the community at large.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?
