As young women, we have the potential to create a new generation in a more equal world with more opportunities. We are the future. We are critical thinkers. We can empower others to speak up, to fight for our human rights, to have good health, to have a good education. We are change makers.

As an Assistant of Visits and Communication at MAIA Impact School, Pamela coordinates with visitors and translates annual reports from English to Spanish. She is also an administrative volunteer.

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

I think all the differences that I saw in my community changed my thought. We need an equal world where everyone can access the different resources they need.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

In 2018, I had the opportunity to travel to New York as a She’s the First Community Impact Fellow and participate in a conference to learn about the rights of girls and how to defend our rights. Through this experience, I was able to see that there is an important movement working to create a better future for girls and women and was able to bring back what I learned from this experience and share it with my family and friends.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

In my spare time, I am reading a book, doing Zumba, and spending time with my family.
