Gender equality is important for achieving all 17 of the United Nations' Global Goals. Gender equality is a fundamental human right. It is not only a women’s issue — it is everyone’s issue and therefore everyone's gain!

What ignited your pursuit for gender equality?

I have a master’s degree in public health with a focus on development studies from University of Copenhagen. Working for various international organizations in the humanitarian and development sector with a focus on education, refugee women, and gender-based violence in emergencies has ignited my fight for gender equality.

Please share your biggest wins as an advocate for gender equality.

I have been researching sexual and gender-based violence against refugee women, where I Interviewed refugee women about the refugee experience while fleeing as women. Through my work, I helped refugees and migrants and am responsible for advocating for women’s rights, health, and well-being. As an advocate, I’m proud to have interned with the United Nations in Copenhagen.

Outside of your gender equality advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?

In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
