TIME Magazine named its top 100 most influential people of 2018. Kenyan activist Nice Nailantei Leng’ete (Class of 2018) was among those featured on this list for her groundbreaking work to end FGM. Seen by many communities as a traditional coming-of-age ritual, Nice has paved the way for an alternative ceremony to FGM to celebrate a girl’s transition into womanhood. She continues her work at Amref Health Africa advocating against FGM and child marriage.
