In Ekon, a fishing community in the central region of Ghana, girls face high rates of teenage pregnancy and STIs. A sexual and reproductive health camp outreach initiative sought to provide training to young people on how to take care of themselves, educate them on the use of contraceptives, and provide them free breast cancer screenings as well as HIV counseling and testing services. Dorcas Manortey (2018) served on the HIV counseling and testing team, and engaged youth by discussing issues that they brought up, such as education, unemployment, sexuality, and safe sex.
