Movement-Building Starts With You. On International Women’s Day, Join the Global Dialogue!

share

This International Women’s Day, the world is talking. From Kampala to Kingston, conversations are happening — conversations that have the power to create lasting change. In the coming months, these voices will only get louder as we approach the world’s largest convening on gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women.

So, what are Satellite Events?

Satellite Events form a global dialogue and make up a vibrant network of thousands of people and organizations, all committed to advancing and investing in girls and women everywhere at a critical point in time.

Using the Women Deliver 2019 Conference as both an occasion and an amplifier, Satellite Events can spark conversations all over the world about how investments in gender equality and in girls’ and women’s health and rights will drive progress for whole societies.

Around the world, Satellite Events take place in communities, capitals, schools, workplaces, galleries, and more in the lead up to, during, and after the Women Deliver 2019 Conference. These events are organized by NGOs, individuals, universities, media, and corporations alike. Each Satellite Event is a unique opportunity to carry the momentum of WD2019 to the arenas where changemakers are driving real progress on the path to a more gender equal world.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we have the privilege to spotlight several incredible events:
  • In Kampala, Reach a Hand Uganda’s Girls Festival is bringing young leaders and gender equality advocates together under the theme “Gains from Equality.”
  • In Kingston, Girls Who Know Jamaica is hosting a youth-led event, Knowing Together: Balance for Better, to raise awareness on girls’ sexual and reproductive health and featuring medical doctors.
  • In Patulul, Guatemala, Pro Mujer, is delivering empowerment workshops for women in local rural and indigenous communities.
  • In Vancouver, Canada – where the Women Deliver 2019 Conference will take place months from now – women leaders from France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States came together last night with the University of British Columbia to discuss Women in Science, Health, and Innovation: Leadership Looking to the Future.
Women Deliver is excited to launch our Satellite Event Toolkit: your go-to resource to hosting Satellite Events.

This is the moment to raise your voice in a conversation that spans continents. Today, we celebrate the progress we have made and all the successes to come on the road to gender equality.

How will you mobilize your organization, community, or country to seize this moment?
