PATH and Women Deliver today announced the local nongovernmental organizations (NGO) tapped to spearhead regional advocacy caucuses on April 19 during the Women Deliver 4th Global Conference in Copenhagen.

The NGOs, selected for their regional expertise and experience, will lead caucus participants in discussing targeted advocacy strategies to strengthen the health, rights, and well-being of girls and women. Caucus organizers by region are:

  • Eastern Africa region: White Ribbon Alliance Uganda
  • Western Africa region: HACEY Health Initiative
  • Central/Middle Africa region: Cameroon Agenda for Sustainable Development (CASD)
  • Southern Africa region: Humanist Institute for Cooperation (Hivos)
  • South-Eastern Asia region: Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
  • Southern Asia region: Rutgers Pakistan
  • Central Asia/Eastern Europe region: RODA - Parents in Action
  • Latin America and the Caribbean region: Elige Red de Jóvenes por los Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos, A.C.

Selection of the NGOs was based on regional technical expertise, experience in building partnerships and mobilizing stakeholders across regions and communities, and their proposals for concrete and bold strategies to improve the lives of girls and women through policy advocacy.

Regional advocacy caucus details
The regional advocacy caucuses will provide a critical platform for participants with diverse backgrounds and interests to work with leaders and regional influencers to set and commit to advocacy actions that will help countries achieve global goals for women and girls, spurring momentum at local and regional levels. This will include elevating the priorities of girls and women as part of regional and national planning, implementation, and accountability for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other global commitments.

The caucuses will bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including nongovernmental and civil society organizations, policymakers, academics, multilateral and bilateral donors, government officials, private sector representatives, journalists, advocates, and young people.

The caucuses will take place at the Bella Center conference venue during the main program of the Women Deliver 4th Global Conference. Conference participants can register for the caucuses in April.

Please note: In order to register to join the regional advocacy caucuses, you must be a registered Women Deliver 4th Global Conference participant.
