Youth Engagement Working Group

The Women Deliver Youth Engagement Working Group is a diverse group of youth-serving and youth-led organizational members who collaborate and coordinate on Women Deliver’s and each other’s efforts related to meaningful youth engagement, gender equality, and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls, women, and young people.

The Youth Engagement Working Group Members:

Advocates for Youth is dedicated to creating programs and advocating for policies that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates provides information, training, and strategic assistance to youth-serving organizations, policy makers, youth activists, and the media in the United States and the developing world.

AfriYAN (African Youth and Adolescent Network on Population and Development) operates regionally in East and Southern Africa and has a Secretariat based in South Africa. AfriYAN is a consultative, coordinating, and action-oriented network for youth and adolescent national organizations, and a vehicle for collaboration on HIV & AIDS, the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights, population and youth development, issues related to public health and sustainable development, and child marriage and gender-based violence.

CHOICE is a youth-led organization that strengthens the voice of young people worldwide on making choices concerning their sexuality and having children. CHOICE advocates for the rights and the space for all to make personal decisions around these issues.

The Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network (CYGEN) is a youth led, and focused network which actively promotes and supports the meaningful inclusion of youth voices on gender equality issues in local, national, regional, Commonwealth and international agendas. CYGEN seeks to improve the position of young people, and advocate for increased youth engagement and participation in existing structures, processes and governance.

Dance4life gives young people the correct information about sex, HIV and AIDS, and provides them with the skills needed to be able to protect themselves and those around them. dance4life is convinced that a world without AIDS is a realistic goal. HIV and AIDS are still one of the biggest threats to the future of young people worldwide; something that dance4life wants to turn around. dance4life’s mission is to create a movement, stimulating change both globally, and in the world of the young people themselves.

IFMSA is the world’s oldest and largest independent organization representing associations of medical students internationally. It currently maintains 132 National Member Organizations from more than 124 countries with over one million students represented worldwide. IFMSA has inspired generations of medical students to develop the leadership abilities and skills to take on challenges and to improve the world around them in an early yet crucial period of their career.

The International Consortium for Emergency Contraception (ICEC), hosted by Management Sciences for Health (MSH), has a mission to expand access to and ensure safe and locally appropriate use of emergency contraception worldwide within the context of family planning and reproductive health programs, with an emphasis on developing countries. ICEC unites individuals and organizations committed to making emergency contraception more readily available. We are a voice for expanded access to emergency contraception.

International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. They are a global network of Member Associations, and work in 176 countries - providing and campaigning for sexual and reproductive health care and rights.

International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP) is an alliance of young individuals, youth associations, organizations, and communities with a common mission to support provision of comprehensive reproductive health care services with a particular focus on family planning for youth.

Ipas is a global nongovernmental organization working toward a world where every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health. Through local, national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women can obtain safe, respectful and comprehensive abortion care, including counseling and contraception, to prevent future unintended pregnancies.

Malala Fund is working for a world where every girl can learn and lead without fear. Inspired and led by Malala Yousafzai 's example, we work to secure girls' right to a minimum of 12 years of quality education, particularly in the global south. Founded in 2014, Malala Fund believes girls are the best investment in the future peace and prosperity of our world.

Planned Parenthood Global is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA advocates for the rights of young people, including the right to accurate information and services related to sexuality and reproductive health. Empowered with knowledge and skills to protect themselves and make informed decisions, they can realize their full potential and contribute to economic and social transformation.

The White Ribbon Alliance is a global movement, with members uniting to push for change so that all women and newborns in every country have the life-saving healthcare which is their right.

The World Young Women's Christian Association (World YWCA) is a global network of women leading social and economic change in over 120 countries worldwide. The World YWCA advocates for peace, justice, human rights and care for the environment and has been at the forefront of raising the status of women for more than a century. The World YWCA develops women’s leadership to find local solutions to the global inequalities women face.

YouAct is a European network of young people, who are active in the field of sexual and reproductive rights. Since its launch in Lisbon 2004, YouAct has grown into a widely recognised youth organisation, undertaking key advocacy, training and awareness raising activities on national, European and International levels.

Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights is an international organization of young people committed to promoting adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive rights at the national, regional and international levels. We work to ensure that the sexual and reproductive rights of all young people are respected, guaranteed and promoted, and strive to secure the meaningful participation of young people in the decision-making processes that affect our lives, by advocating, generating knowledge, sharing information, building partnerships and training young activists with a focus on the regional and international levels.

Y-PEER, the Youth Peer Education Network, is a groundbreaking and comprehensive youth-to-youth initiative pioneered by UNFPA. Y-PEER is a network of more than 500 non-profit organizations and governmental institutions; its membership includes thousands of young people who work in the many areas surrounding adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

Youth LEAD is the Asia Pacific Network of Young Key Populations to HIV comprising of young people who use drugs, sell sex, men having sex with men, transgender populations and living with HIV. We want to be the catalyst of change and empowerment for young key populations through capacity building, advocacy, and the expansion of partnerships between local, national, and regional YKP organizations. We want to ensure more meaningful participation and involvement of YKP in all levels of decision making that impact their lives. We respect diversity and ensure gender balance in all aspects of our organizational structure and decision making.

Youth Health and Rights Coalition is comprised of advocates and implementers who, in collaboration with young people and adult allies, are working to advance the sexual and reproductive rights and health of adolescents and youth around the world. The YHRC advocates with key decision makers to prioritize funding and support for comprehensive adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive rights and health policies and practices. Our goal is to ensure young people in the developing world have the sexual and reproductive rights and health information, tools, commodities, and quality services necessary to make healthy and informed choices about their own lives.
